THE GUIDE TO SURVIVING HIGH SCHOOL:

1. DON’T GET INVOLVED IN DRAMA
If you know that two people are in a fight, do not back talk about each other or tell everyone about the fight. This will lead to false information and you will be the one getting hurt in the end. You really should not even be getting involved in other people’s businesses. Hang around friends that are not going to talk behind your back and the people who are loyal. Stay away from the people you know are always wanting attention.

2. GET INVOLVED IN SCHOOL ACTIVITIES
One of the best things about high school are the different activities you can get involved in. Right now, I am part of clubs where we have overnight trips, conferences, and fundraisers. Through these things, you not only make a lot of friends, you get an unexpectedly amazing experience. If you are in a sport, it’s really fun to go to games and meet the people in the other schools. I am the soccer manager this year and I know that one of the things I’m most looking forward to is making friends on the team and getting to know the people in other schools.

3. DON’T PROCRASTINATE
This will definitely help your academic career. I know that you want to put studying and projects to the last minute but it’s crucial that you don’t. When you do, you will be up until 3 in the morning and realizing that you don’t understand something. Even if you email your teacher, you know she/he won’t respond because they are asleep. When you get an assignment, write down the date that it’s due on your agenda and the handout so that you are constantly reminded that the deadline is coming up. Finish your assignments as soon as possible.

4. DON’T DATE JUST ANYONE
One of the things that many people are really interested in are relationships. However, it is highly recommended that you don’t go out with the first person that asks you out just for the sake of going out with someone. When you do that, your boyfriend or girlfriend will lose interest in you and the only feelings that will be hurt is yours. Find someone you actually care about and put a lot of thought before deciding to let them into your personal bubble.

5. MAKE GOOD FRIENDS
The friends you make in high school are going to last a very long time. Some people decide to make no friends and focus on school only. Although I respect that decision, I don’t recommend it at all. You will make the best of friends and those are the people that will take your phone call at 4 in the morning because you just want to talk. They will eventually be like your family. But make sure you don’t trust everyone you meet because people are unpredictable. So make sure that they are going to be loyal and kind before trusting them wholeheartedly.

These are the 5 rules that I go by to survive high school. Hope this helped.
